Clean up to improve appearance
[edit]Article(s): en:Paul Martin (illustrator) - reachable via the link in reference 201.
- Request
Hello. I am the original uploader of this image. I still have the original magazine. I would like to avoid any alterations that would require a new file name. Please tweak this image to make it more presentable. Notice how there is a bluish tint or something in the lower-third left section, for instance. The background should be more naturally uniform. I'd appreciate just some touch-ups to improve the overall quality without creating a new file name. That might mean improving the focus and coloring and removing any glare area. I attempted to improve the image with my basic image editor on May 2, 2025 (under "File history"). However, I seemed to give it an artificial glitter appearance instead. Update. I increased size and tried again w/o success on 7/5.
- Graphist opinion(s)
- Hi JimPercy, I strongly recommend rephotographing if that’s possible. Ideally use a bright sunny room during the day, but set the magazine as far away from the windows and direct sunlight as possible. Turn indoor lights off (if using natural light); we don’t want mixed lighting sources that have differing colours. Zoom your lens in, step back and set your shutter speed to 1/100 or higher. Take the photo without cropping in the outside edge of the magazine, and we can crop digitally. HTGS (talk) 18:50, 11 November 2025 (UTC)

There's still some signs of the photograph's age, with scratches and fading, and the contrast leaves a bit to the imagination. - Hi! Could the photo perspectives of these two photos be enhanced (by which I mean: very sharp, straight edges) and then be cropped? Could a new, cropped version be uploaded instead of replacing it? Thanks in advance! Kind regards, --S. Perquin (talk) 13:25, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

- There seems to be some barrel distortion. Is there any chance of reshooting with another lens? cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 15:24, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

- No problem. They will do. How should they be cropped? To the crest for the first? The second is already as tight as feasible. cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 16:59, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Ideally, right up to the edges, indeed! So, in the case of the window, the white edges form the outer sides of the image. And in the case of the stone, the white edges form the outer edges. The edges of the stone could perhaps be filled with white, so that the stone is cut out very precisely. Kind regards, S. Perquin (talk) 20:12, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

- Dear JayCubby, thank you for your adjustment! However, what I meant was to crop it in such a way that it becomes slightly distorted so that it fits within the frames. So not necessarily just cutting it out, but also distorting the entire image. Do you know how to do this? I look forward to hearing from you or someone else! Kind regards, S. Perquin (talk) 16:17, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, I see now that you made the stained glass window the way I meant it! 😄 Could you apply something similar to the stone? And then as a new image, so not overwritten. Kind regards, S. Perquin (talk) 16:19, 4 September 2025 (UTC)

- Distortion correction crops an image slightly, FYI. JayCubby (talk) 01:59, 5 September 2025 (UTC)

Remove unwanted motorcycle shadow (Agadir Souk Al Had)
[edit]-

Article(s): Agadir, Souk El Had
- Request
- Please remove the **unwanted motorcycle shadow** visible on the **right-hand side foreground pavement** of the image.
- The edit should preserve the natural stone texture and lighting consistency of the ground, without altering people, architecture, or perspective.
- No cropping is requested; only a clean retouch to eliminate the shadow artifact.
- This image is intended for encyclopedic use, so the result should remain realistic and neutral.
- Thank you. --Flaspec (talk) 12:11, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

- For reference, the exact location corresponding to the affected foreground area can be found in **Google Maps (satellite imagery)** at the following coordinates (Street View also available):
- 30.411268, -9.579653

- Sezenkerem: As the watermark does not impinge on, or overlap, the main images, I've just cropped the watermark out.
This is a process you can easily do yourself using the Crop tool. By way of information for the future, when you want to crop an image, I suggest you use the CropTool that can be activated in your commons Preferences, under Gadgets. The CropTool will then appear in the left side of your screen. If you are just cropping a small bit of the image like a watermark you can decide to overwrite the original image but for more major crops you should upload the cropped version as a separate new image. It saves everyone a lot of time because it transfers all the correct and appropriate information into the cropped image, such as source, license, author, etc., when uploading the cropped images as a new image and not overwriting it. It even leaves a backlink to the original and visa versa so long as the original has been positively reviewed. That way all the proper information is there and does not need to be manually reviewed by volunteers, but you have a choice. I hope you can see how everyone can save time and frustration by using CropTool. Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 12:15, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
